Can you believe it’s already been 20 years since we first saw the documentary about the hidden LGBT presence in film, The Celluloid Closet (1995)? Queer cinema has come a long way since then! Beginning this Thursday, SIFF Cinema kicks off its 20th year of the Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival (SLGFF), presented by Three Dollar Bill Cinema. They’ll be showing more than 54 films and 99 shorts at the SIFF Cinema Egyptian, AMC Pacific Place and the Northwest Film Forum. Opening night kicks off with the highly anticipated film, FREEHELDstarring Julianne Moore and the always scrumptious Ellen Page. On the closing night of the festival, special guest Dave Kopay of the NFL will attend the screening of OUT OF TOWN, a film about LGBT in professional sports.

BEAUTIFUL SOMETHING screens Sunday, October 11 at SIFF Cinema Egyptian.
