Lately baseball caps have become better than the old sport standby. By making them out of leather or waxed denim, the fashion trend machine has found a way to make them chic. Givenchy has a calfskin cap, Rick Owens a leather one, and there are a few Seattle based boutiques selling waxed and painted versions, including Blackbird in Ballard.

Earlier this summer, former Seattle street photographer and current street photographer for W Magazine Adam Katz Sinding posted a picture of a beautiful blonde wearing one of these caps at Australia fashion week. It captures how the ball cap’s seemingly mundane silhouette can be enhanced, making it  a perfect accessory, more versatile and wearable than ever. One is able to create interesting combinations with spring and summer clothes like lightweight tees or styling it with weightier fabrics and jackets in autumn and winter.
